We've arrived! Our kids have grown up with many driving trips so they have become fantastic travelers! Matthew is learning and he did amazing! In 33+hrs of driving, there were only a few screeching moments :) Sarah was a great entertainer in the backseat. We played travel games, listened & danced to great tunes, stopped for treats and little playtimes, listened to Adventures in Odyssey and had a great road trip!
Things we learned along the way:
The fire South of McMurray caused a detour that added over 2hrs to our journey.
Red Deer has a great Comfort Inn, that gives great rates to Finning Employees. :)
Matthew loves popcorn twists.
Joshua could eat Subway for every single meal!
When we stopped for drinks and the kids could pick out any drink they wanted, Megan picked Vitamin Water, Sarah chose Gatorade and Joshua went for Mountain Dew! Daddy of course chose Rockstar and I sipped a delicious mocha Starbucks!
Buffalo are huge!
The Canyons are amazing every time we see them.
Matthew loves kit-kats!
The first Costco near our route was in Salt Lake City, UT
Joshua Trees start appearing at about 3,000ft.
Megan enjoyed having her KOBO and would read until it was too dark to see her words.
We drove in six states to get here.
It feels like home.
♥
A little tire inspection before leaving...
All packed up & ready for adventure.
Salt Lake City Costco.... the memorable $1.50 ice cream bar.
Sunset drives....
Windows were rolled down and we all took in the spectacular sights!
Snack time, and apparently play time (an apples makes a great ball!)
The final destination - hello AZ, we've missed you.
We do all our online ordering from home so it arrives during our stay in the US. We had a package awaiting on the doorstep - perfect timing. Matthew's chair was ready & waiting to be used. He loves having his snack (in the a/c house!) while watching the kids frolic in the pool.
Our final travel day Joshua wore his bathing suit, so he could walk through the front door and straight into the pool. He was slightly bummed when Dad said he had to rinse off in the shower first (world's record for fastest shower was challenged!).
Megan's monkey hold :)
The classic Sarah shot!
She lives in these goggles and lives in that pool. I'm not sure why we even pack her clothes as she wears her bathing suits all the time!
We were greeted with 41C upon arrival and yesterday we hit the low 40s again. It is due to be slightly cooler today (38C) and we are so thankful to have this fantastic pool to cool us off.
A few are off quadding this morning, Matthew has {finally} settled for his morning nap, so I'm off to join Sarah in the pool :)
He determines the number of stars and calls them each by name. Great is out Lord and might in power; his understanding has no limit.
Psalm 147:4-5
