A neglected blog apparently. Well, not really. I constantly remind myself that family & life comes before the blog, and these days sleep also trumps blog posts! Matthew has been sick with a cold/flu bug and now molars are bursting through so days have been full of cuddles and snuggles and nights have been long! So in the quiet & happy moments we've been having fun and doing some learning along the way. A few pics to catch you up on this month:
It's been puzzle month here! We go through waves of not doing many puzzles to the kids being addicted to puzzle time! Sarah did this one all on her own. We were missing New Brunswick for awhile and then after opening up the vacuum bag found our final little missing province!
Oh the baking continues. Megan loves "finicky" baking too. So when we had bible study this week she made mini cranberry/orange muffins drizzled with an orange glaze, cream puffs drizzled with chocolate, orange drop cookies topped with a creamy orange icing and these little chocolate, apple & almond phyllo packages :)
School, yes school. Although our days of late have been disjointed we are still trying to get through our lessons. Sarah and Joshua made mud bricks (out of paper clay) and after they hardened they were busy painting them up. Once that was done, they built their little mud houses that they have been learning about in History.
Well, after 17 years of marriage, we bought our very first kitchen table! What a blessing it has been to have a HUGE table to all work on together. Daddy taught Joshua and they worked as a team putting together the 8 chairs.
The weather outside is getting chilly! As soon as the temperatures drop Joshua begins to BEG to build a fire. I usually wait until it's really cold as our house isn't well insulated and we're often very chilly. He was thrilled one cold morning when I told him he could build the first fire of the year. What a cozy day we had learning that day!
Oh, how we love it when Daddy has days off! Bookwork is quickly attacked and PE lasts all day long! (*smiles*). With a light dusting of snow, we were off to check out the hill for some sledding!
Matthew loved his new sled! He also enjoyed watching the kids slide down the big hill. :)
The Christmas season is upon us! As we set up our tree, we had a family appie night (stuffed mushrooms, cheese ball, empanadas, pizza rolls, potato skins & chicken wings) so Megan and I were very busy in the kitchen that afternoon. It was all delicious and we chuckled through as we watched Elf and enjoyed our goodies!
Wishing you a blessed Christmas season.... Grandma has arrived, so we've taken some time off of school to play games and today is a Christmas baking day. Things are active in our teeny-tiny kitchen! What great memories!
great monster catch up post! love it!
