Outdoor/Indoor Learning

Amidst the house hunting (nothing yet, but God is good and He is our Provider), we had a good school week.
The kids working hard with their recycling. They collect along walks (cleaning up our neighborhood), and recycle all they can from our home. They also have some neighbors that give them their recyclables to take in. They are looking forward to getting them to the depot and earning some cold cash :)
Daddy and I will be happy to have them out of the backyard.
Matthew found the {old} sandbags and had a grand time in the sunshine digging and pouring.
It isn't the beach at Lake Havasu City, AZ.... but it's still a great time!
Matthew got his first piece of mail in the mailbox yesterday from G&G Gray. It had a dog & cat on the front and he was so excited. He then had to show all the kids his "dawg" on the front and followed the words with his finger and 'read' Grandma's handwritten note.
It was so cute!
{Joshua's on the left, Sarah's on the right}
Penmanship.
It is so hard to take the time to write neatly for a couple of my students {wink}.
Daddy left them a note this morning to copy out Psalms 100 in their best printing for him to see after work today.
I think they did a splendid job!
This is what you need to find the DNA strands of a split pea.
This is pretty exciting stuff. Megan called the younger kids to watch her do the experiment.
It was actually pretty cool.
After some blending, mixing, stirring and waiting.....
Megan was able to lift up a strand of DNA.
OOoooooooooh..... AAAAaaaaaaaah!
Even Matthew got in on the action and had a good look at the DNA that was floating on top of the surface.
I need to sit and figure out our final term to make sure we're all where we need to be.
It's looking good.

Psalm 100

A psalm. For giving grateful praise.

1 Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth.
2 Worship the LORD with gladness;
come before him with joyful songs.
3 Know that the LORD is God.
It is he who made us, and we are his;
we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.

4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving
and his courts with praise;
give thanks to him and praise his name.
5 For the LORD is good and his love endures forever;
his faithfulness continues through all generations.

  1. It's pretty cool that you can actually isolate a strand of DNA like that! Great experiment Megan. And awesome recycling work all of you!
