The winter temperatures officially arrived! We were walking in a winterish wonderland for so long we were all getting used it! That +5 became a painful -12 and then a downright mean -39! And then it hung out in those low -30s for a bit longer than we all would choose. So that meant we hung out inside most days and shivered terribly if we had to go out.
We survived though.... and the temperatures are teasing us once again and hovering just a bit below zero.
Daddy had a few days off {insert big cheer here!} so we put him to work! First things first... Joshua's MUCH needed haircut :)
Sarah reading from Daddy's bible one morning (loved that Megan thought to pick up the camera and take this shot!)
Cold temperatures mean warm, cozy fires... and if you build a warm, cozy fire.... don't you have to make s'mores?
We think so!

Music class 101.
This cracked me up! One of Joshua's "services" is to wipe down the toilets. I thought it was very thoughtful of him to want them to air-dry before someone sat on them. New use for Q-tips!

That week was also filled with homophones (which Sarah is very excited about as she thinks up new sets daily!), Physics, Grammer, stories and new reading books....
Then Friday we had a fabulous afternoon and evening with another homeschooling family - how refreshing it is to get together with friends!
But then Saturday came.... and so did the STOMACH FLU! I don't think our family has ever been so sick! We all caught it (thankfully Daddy waited a couple days so he could care for the rest of us). It was nasty and none of us are 100% yet, but we are on the mend - Praise the Lord!
Needless to say, we used up some sick days and spent the first few days looking like this:
Slowly we've been making our way back to the living.... only to catch a nasty head cold. Isn't so encouraging to know we can pray for strength! The Lord has truly blessed us with that this week.
We figured Matthew needed a new activity to keep him entertained (I was going to write busy, but he doesn't need any activities whatsoever to keep him busy!) so the girls and I decided to make him up a batch of Kool Aid Play-doh!
Of course after we made grape, we thought we should make orange as well. :)
Once we convinced Matthew it wasn't food, he had fun smashing, poking and of course throwing the playdoh for awhile!
I had to take a shot of this. Our internet is very poor in this house. So the kids wanted to watch a little AFV online (we still don't have tv, and I still love it!), but couldn't get a connection in the living room. They finally found a hot spot at the bottom of the stairs, so they huddled around and giggled away while I finished putting dinner together :)
Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
1 Thessalonians 5:21
Thank you Jesus that our family is usually so very healthy.
Oh my word - the toilet pic makes me laugh!! Totally brilliant Josh!! And a great cleaning job too! Play dough for Peter?? NO WAY!! LOL So glad Matthew had fun with it!
ReplyDeleteWhat a relief you guys are back to a healthy state, or at least over the nasty flu. That sounded just horrible. Sarah looks very grown up reading with her glasses on.
So glad for your healthy days back again!!! What a bout that was! Love the family hot spot shot!
