We're still here....

I see by my last post date that it has been awhile. Obviously it has taken us a little longer to get back into the swing of things, but I think we've gotten into our groove again.
Today was "Facilitator Day".
Our Wisdom Homeschooling facilitator was over this afternoon and together we talked over Megan's High School plans as well as an assessment of each child. I find it exhausting. I don't know how he goes to a number of homes each day, but I'm impressed with how attentive he is and how at ease he makes me feel regarding our homeschooling process. After he leaves I am so encouraged and know we're on the right track - thank you Mark!
We've had a busy couple of weeks between Doctor appointments, a trip to the hospital, soccer tryouts, more soccer tryouts, and the usual "life errands"! Joshua has been having issues with his knee so was off to see the Dr. and then to the hospital for X-rays. We meet to go over the results on Monday. He was also working very hard to earn a spot on the Fort McMurray U14 Select (Rep) team. How excited were we to see the invitation come for him to be a part of the team this year. Way to go Joshua, we're so proud of you!
We dove into our new section in Science (Plants) and had fun learning about the differences between plant & animals cells. This microscope Grandpa Perry bought Megan YEARS ago has sure been useful to us! We were able to use it and visually see both plant and animal cells. :) A dissection of a bean seed today also proved to be exciting. I love learning with the kids and watching their faces light up at the littlest things.
We are really enjoying Story of the World for Social Studies/History and today we made seals which people used long ago as a signature before they wrote using letters. Sarah is making her impression with Play-doh.
These are Joshua's. We first made the seal(s) out of Paperclay and allowed that to dry and harden. We then used Play-doh to make the impressions.
Matthew loves chalk. Drawing, holding, eating... it doesn't matter! So at break time, Joshua & Sarah took Matthew out onto the trampoline to chalk all over! He loved it, until he got too cold.
"Chocolate Crack"
Having a child that wants to be a baker is both fabulous and dangerous! HA. Megan has been baking up more delectable goodies, but then we all must sample. It's all in the name of learning, right? It would be wrong not to taste everything, how else would I be able to grade her work? So yummy!! My favorite "class" to mark!
"Emergency Cupcakes" {love that name!} :)
One has a little (homemade) marzipan car on it. We were off to bible study and the host had just passed her driving test and Megan was so excited to surprise her with cupcakes to celebrate!
So that has been our past couple of weeks.
For Bible I am reading the book Crazy Love by Francis Chan to the kids. I highly recommend it (and his other books) if you have not read it yet.
Trust you are having a blessed week!
