Our Adventure Continues...

All packed up & ready to go!
We're always a little nervous about crossing the border; not that we have anything to be nervous about (although this time my passport was a little scribbled in!) it's just they can cause delays or not allow you in! We find the guards at the Osoyoos crossing to be friendlier and they didn't disappoint! :)
As we picked up lunch and got ready to put some
miles on a few members were beginning to feel under the weather. OH BOY! We have literally HOURS to go.
It didn't take too long and it started to hit Daddy, our captain!
We pressed on to realize we needed fuel. The GPS took us to the nearest station, which was unfortunately boarded up and out of business! Such a blessing that David filled up a jerry can in Red Deer, "just in case". Without it we wouldn't have made it to the next station!
Praise the Lord!
After David had a roadside nap (we watched movies) he woke up worse than he felt before sleeping so we just drove to the next hotel and called it a night. So day one and we didn't even get through the state of Washington.
This could be a LONG TRIP!
Breakfast (and Advil) and back on the road....
 Pit stop #1
Matthew enjoyed regular time out of his car seat to explore!
Daddy breathing in fresh air & taking a little nap.
The pit stop was right at a dam. The US sure like their dams!

 Pit Stop #2.
Dinner time while Daddy slept in the truck for a bit.
This stop was at Snake River.
Pit Stop #3
A very cool bridge crossing Snake River Canyon we drove over.
Of course on top of pit-stops, there are gas fill-ups, diaper changes, potty breaks, food stops and...
So as everyone slowly began feeling better, David decided to put in some driving time and drove well into the night.
It took us awhile too, to find a hotel to house our crew. Apparently we're a big family and don't meet fire safety regulations with the number of people per room.
I think we finally found a place around 3am.
By day three, Megan was feeling good enough to make the anticipated stop at Costco in Las Vegas for the long-awaited ice-cream bar!
Just what we needed to give us the energy for the FINAL leg of the trip....

 Finally, finally! We arrived!
Hello Lake Havasu City, oh how we've missed you!
Our first two weeks here were simply hanging out. OK, not really! We have a two-year old in the house, who are we kidding! We've been chasing him around from morning until night and then crashing into bed ourselves! HA.
However, there have been moments (thanks to tag-team parenting!) that we have spent baking in the sun, swimming in the pool, and having a grand time!
Even Levi is enjoying some brief time in the heat.
Matthew loves the water, although spends most of his time on the edge!
Matthew found this treasure in the garage.... can you buy me one Daddy? Please?
Building one would be a good school project, right?!
Sarah had an assignment in her Prairie Primer program to knit a small project. Who knew how much she would LOVE knitting! It took her no time at all to knit a fabulous hot pad for us and is now working on a scarf for herself!
Way to go Sarah!
Of course a few mornings (albeit not enough in Joshua's opinion I'm sure) look like this. Matthew even went out with them and had lots of fun quadding with Daddy.
I think I see a little 50 in his future!
What has captured their attention? Why a digger of course, across the wash as workers build a fence in a neighboring yard.
Matthew isn't going to know what's going on when Daddy has to go back to work. He has been Daddy's shadow each and every day. Each morning Matthew wakes at the crack of dawn and Daddy takes him outside. They climb the rocks by the pool and this morning were enjoying some sidewalk chalk together :)
We've had amazing weather with temperatures in the high 30s to low 40s.
I don't always have my camera, so I will leave you withe a few photos off my ipod (quality isn't great, but you get the idea!)
 Lots of time doing this!
* Note Matthew in what he now calls.... his "cave" :)
Taking time out of the pool to.... knit! ♥
Went to Laughlin, NV for a day trip. Of course we had to stop at In-N-Out for lunch!
Oh, and Emily tagged along with us too :)
Matthew pondering what a career at In-N-Out would look like.
Have yet to find a donut to BEAT THIS! Check out all that buttercream.
Amazingly delicious.
 Science 101
Stick bug or Praying Mantis?
I think we've concluded it's a preying mantis. Whatever bug it was, Joshua was happy to remove it from his bathing suit!
We just spent a few days in Phoenix. This was on our drive down through the city of Parker.

(across the river is California!)
We love the Phoenix area, especially Goodyear. We had a great few days down there and spend a day at the zoo too.
Will post on that soon.

Feeling blessed, yet again, for the opportunity to enjoy this time together as a family.
We hear it's snowing back home, so we're going to savor this heat as much as we can!

  2. What an awesome experience! So many great things to see and do along the way! Matthew is getting SO big, how did that happen!? The pic in the In&Out hat is priceless. Way to go Sarah on learning to knit, a life skill you will be so happy to have. We love to knit at the beach :) Enjoy your time there, don't even ponder the snow for a moment!
