I am happy to say we're back to full health! That was certainly a rough couple of weeks! We had some sick days off of school and are finally getting back to 'class as usual'.
Sarah has completed her book study on "Anna's Coat" & quite enjoyed it. We have a couple fun projects to do at the end of it now as an added bonus (that will be next week!) It was a short little book, which was perfect for her. Although she is reading chapter books, for a book study this was a much better fit for her. Joshua is humming along in his studies, and seems to be completing things faster than I figure, so we need to work out some slowing down and more meaty material. I'm already starting to think about next year and what we will do. Megan is starting an online High School Writing class which she had her orientation for this week. It will be a heavy course, but she is excited about it and it's a really cool set up. She talks (audibly) with her teacher and then has a 'classroom' where she can chat with the other students. It's something completely different which is refreshing when the school year is beginning to drag. Matthew is doing great, busy growing and has popped all 4 molars now. We are often trying different crafts/projects to help keep him entertained while we do school and so we had a few crafty days this week!
I think the BIGGEST excitement this week though was Sarah starting swimming lessons! Sarah has asked, begged & pleaded for swimming lessons, however, the times were either all booked or didn't work into our schedule and she's been beyond patient as she waiting for her chance. So we finally took her down to the pool for her assessment and signed her up for private lessons. To her, this was even better! One on one with the teacher - brilliant! She is doing fabulous too. Looks like she'll jump about two classes and be ready to start class sessions in the summer.
Way to go Miss Sarah! :)
Matthew had another haircut (his second one) and it sure makes him look more like a little boy than our toddler! He's beginning to say more and more words (mostly just the starting sounds) and loves using the potty! WHOOHOO! I think we'll start training soon!
Sarah had a friend over the other day which usually means some crafty time :) The two of them pulled out their embroidery floss and made bracelets. The last time Sarah tried this she really struggled and this time she whizzed through. She has now spent nearly all day today making bracelets, anklets and bookmarks! How wonderful it is to watch her succeed and the thrill and excitement that brings her. She is simply besides herself and squealing with delight at how wonderful today is :)
With a move in a our future (I think we have about six weeks... eek!) we are s-l-o-w-l-y going through things and came across a big bin of crayons. Some of them were very well loved and so when I came across this blog about Crayon Nibbles I knew we had to give it a try.
So into the oven they went and out popped these delightful little crayons! Perfect for Matthew's little hands!
We made so many, we decided to make some up for Valentine's Day to take to church on Sunday so Matthew could give them out to his buddies in the playroom :)
My crafty friend sent me a fabulous idea the other day (thanks Tania!!) to make chalkboard placemats. As soon as I read the post about these beauties I was SOLD! I have been looking everywhere for a chalkboard for Matthew as he loves chalking on our to-do board and I have had no luck. So after Joshua's light treatment appointment (for his psoriasis) we made our way to Walmart (for the placemats) and Canadian Tire (for a much better priced can of Chalkboard paint). We got home and went to work. We got both coats on and now we wait 3 days to actually write/draw on them. Perfect timing.... they will be ready for school on Monday. Another attention grabber for Matthew during school - fabulous!
So there is some catch up of our lives these last few weeks.
Blessings to you & yours.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE those crayon nibbles! I have a wipes box full of ol' crayons that we will have to make some with! And your stampy little touches make things SO sweet!
ReplyDeleteWay to go Sarah! Keep splashin' hard! Swimming lassons are such a wonderful thing.
Great crafting guys!
